I've heard whomping big horns in a variety of configurations, including an excellent pair of Hartsfield reproductions by, appropriatley enough, audio reproductions. I find full range horns have problems in the midbass-midrange reigon, an area I'm especially sensitive to. Multi-driver configurations have varying problems, usually due to driver integration and/or crossover issues. The high frequencies don't seem to mesh with the midrange, for instance. This is where the Hartsfield's drove me crazy, they were wonderfully dynamic with a crystal clear treble, but the upper mid was colored something fierce.I'm considering using horns for the bass drivers, in the corner, where bass horns do best.
