proper 75 ohm SPDIF cables are a) BNC on both ends (the RCA stuff is an abberation and not to spec), and b) you usually crimp the connectors to the proper coax cable. There are very few 75 ohm connectors for solder connections (Vampire makes some).
The shield in the coax cable is the ground.Peter
