Hi,
I'll be changing the well over 100 electrolytic capacitors in my 20 year old multitrack recorder. Many of the caps, and all of the coupling ones are bi-polar Nichicons. The most common values are 10 and 33uf at 16v. I'd like to try the Rubycon ZL but the manufacturer spec'ed the bi-polars for a reason of which I am not privy. Arranging the ZL caps back-to-back will at least double my cost. Would regular electrolytics be OK between opamp stages without the back-to-back arrangement? When might a designer call for these bi-polars? Please, no Black Gate recommendations. Cost is an issue.
Thanks,
Shmiggins
