First of all, why don't you try the simple lamp suggestion posted by jea48 just to verify that you can hear a difference? That's the point of all of this I think. You could be working yourself up over theory with everyone else. You can even experiment with different wattages of bulbs, maybe you only need 60W or 40W. Who knows until you try? Then, if you feel like the inductor needs the extra load you can install the resistor box idea that you have. Put a switch on it though. That way it doesn't have to be drawing current unless you are playing your cd player. You can easily switch it off when you're not listening. Seems like that would ease your mind and save a few dollars and trees.If the inductor really does not work very well without the excessive load then maybe you should rethink the application. Perhaps the design is flawed? ( blasphemy, i know . . . )
