Tweaks are meant to adjust the room acoustics to smooth out problems and/or to ensure that the sound system is able to deliver as much detail as accurately as possible faithfully to what's stored in the original recording.That's a helluva lot to ask! And to some degree it's also dependent upon our own idiosyncratic hearing and taste too.
Yes, sometimes people want to "add" something - tones, looks, whatever. That doesn't seem to be the common objective here, IMHO. Basically it's to compensate more than to enhance, if I read your drift correctly (and I might not have!)
