thanks v much, jon. i understand about the symmetry, but it's just not possible, given that this is a small home studio (read: guest bedroom). so i will look at flipping everything 180deg.i've completed the first of a pair of the traps. my hands hurt, but i'm pleased with how it came out. dunno how it sounds yet - i want to set up the pair for listening. i did take lots of photos, and will post my own tips and tricks once i'm done.
