...limited insofar as it would makes things easier if the height of whatever "footers" we audition are nearly the same. In our (my son and my) creation, we have constructed a Symposium platform clone on which free-standing armboards will be mounted (fully separate from the plinth). The plinth will then sit on whatever “footers†atop the platform and amid the two armboards. As such, the height of the armboards in relation to the height of the platter will be, of course, essential. That said we can experiment a bit with "footers†of basically the same height where VTA can be adjusted within the difference – OR, at worst, we can always adjust the height of the armboards by shortening or shimming their pillars if we find something REALLY worthy. While my first instincts regarding this type of thing (vibration control) is usually not too good, I am a bit leery of roller bearings on a mass-based turntable. I have been intrigued by rollerballs in other applications but it would seem to this uneducated mind that roller balls on a stationary table like a Lenco (Garrard, Teres, ‘Not, Etc.) would turn it into a semi-suspended table of sorts – at least in the lateral direction. No?
