Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

My listening room has a convective heating unit in it - basically a big sheet metal box with hot water circulating in tubes at the bottom. This thing has way too much resonant surface area. While it isn't pretty as is I don't want to make it even more ugly by slapping damping on the outside. What can I put inside the enclosure that isn't too thick (ideally around 1/4" or less), will stay in place and not off gassing noxious shit at temps that could reach
140F, provides great damping and doesn't cost a fortune? Anything from the automotive world possibly?
I also have a DiaNorm steel radiator I'd like to damp. Same heat issues. Whatever I use will probably have to go on the exterior so think small, discreet and preferably transparent or white.
Thanks for any suggestions.
