from a manufacturing standpoint they represent a major cost saving.... so fuses it is and will be... contemplate this, all of your ludicrously expensive wiring, filtration, horse process sized a.c. cords, exquisite crafty Japanese outlets color coded acording to Momoyama period aesthetics, anal retentive feng shui, pieces of ebony suspeded on magnetic fields,.... all that crap still is trying to squeeze your precious electrons through a teensy skinny little section of wire made to basic industrial standards where toasters, electric pencil sharpeners, and laser hair regrowth combs count for no more than your beautiful device with hand wound silver capacitors.... how nasty is that ? Not only, but your fuse holder is almost certainly an off the shelf P.O.S. as well.
