They have worked for you in your cdp which is great to hear.. WHat brand of cd player do you own??. If you are using the anolg section without an outboard dac i have a great tweak that should bring some kind of improvement.. If its anything like i think, your signal path in the analog section are probably ac coupled with polar electrlytics, maybe about 10uf??..Try replacing these if you have the space with polypropylene caps roughly equivalent value or slightly less if you have the space...If you have access to a DMM remove the output coupling caps and measure dc on the outputs if above 2mv or more leave them in, if below take them out and use a wire jumper, you will notice a huge difference....
