Alan: yes very much worth the effort. I did several sets for the Dimond Team (and a pile for roy and my local dealer)and they tried them out at Vegas last January. You will have no worries with the cones but you will need to watch out for the pucks (need very slow decent and assent). I had to repair a few as the clear plastic top and bottom face dressing contract themselves off of the main puck body as they are so much softer than the epoxy used to form the puck. If you split the seem on one you will have to use a UV cure CA adhesive to put it back together. It's a PITA though as the clear plastic top and bottom block UV to some degree and you have to edge clamp them but you can do it and then re cryo.
I can highly recommend the "Magic Mushrooms" made by Noel Nolan of Skylan Stands (which I cryo for him) as a big step up from any of the Diamond product. The guys at Tres Turntables were amazed at the improvement over the Diamonds that they use. Don't ask why they have not changed yet I was in the room when they compared the two and it sounded like a fireworks display (wow ooooo ahhhhh J.C. and H.S. and the like). Sometimes you just have to use what the consumer wants or expects. You can talk to Bruce Edgar about it as we did the demo in his room on his system (many sets were sold).
Hope this helps all the best Moray James.
