RIAA pre from Maplin

Hi all,
I've bought a RIAA pre amp from Maplin Electronics (UK).Its a cheapy module to get you playing Vynil when your amp doesn't have an input. Its a basic design based around a TLO72 op-amp.It states that it is N.A.B modified to provide an early Low Frequency roll off for subsonic rumble filtering.Has anybody had some experiance with it?
I'd like to modify it in some way.Because of its N.A.B modification the Bass is way to light and thin sounding. It runs off a single rail supply into a virtual earth by way of a resistor divider.I'm feeding it 15 volts off a 17 volt un-regulated plug in the wall job via a 7815 reg IC.Funny I thought it would need 18 volts to get 15 but it works.
I know I could be extravegent and re-build it with quality parts or even try a different circuit.I even tried EQ in Soundforge but didn't get the sound right.
Can anyone suggest anything to improve it?

Thanks.mikee55
