Seeing how portions of HighEnd audio are seriously compromised by popular perception of snake oil and hyperbolic claims, the complete absence of any explanation or hypothesis for how this clock is supposed to work really troubles me.Just imagine your average doctor, attorney, scientist et al (educated people with the means to indulge audiophilia) read about this clock. They would rightly assume that we're out to lunch and stay as far away from HighEnd audio as possible. Couldn't blame 'em, either.
That's hurting our industry. Big time!
Geogg Kaitt admitted to me yesterday that his chip is only effective 92% of the time (my reviewers conveniently fell into the 8% group where it was ineffective). An 8% defective/failure rate in any other category of audio components would be an outrage. Does the Intelligent Chip propaganda talk about the possibility that if you buy it, it may not work?
So now we're dealing with a $149 tweak whose mode of operation *seems* peculiar - but who knows? To give it the benefit of the doubt, I believe the consumer is entitled to an explanation of how this thing purports to work. In the absence of one, I can't blame anyone for thinking this thing to be a hoax.
And pushing hoaxes *really* is bad for the industry. It makes us all look like idiots (and I ain't saying we ain't, just that it doesn't help our cause) -:)
