Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
For years I have noticed that my left speaker sounded significantly stronger than right. I went through speaker repair and discovered a blown tweeter in the right speaker, but the problem remained post repair. I ran the unit with the balance over 1 1/2 notches to get a good sound stage. I assumed the problem was inherent in the receiver until I hooked the speakers up backwards once by mistake and realized the issue still existed. Then I took a closer look at my room and realized the left side of the room is closed in and the right side opens up to the dining room and kitchen, so the problem seems to be the sound bouncing (or not) off of walls before reaching my ear. I also have a large couch not too far from the right speaker. Any way, my speakers are on rather short stands, so I buit a shim for the front legs and tilted the right side back a little. Huge improvement! I can run the unit on center balance with good results..
