Hi there!What are your objectives with this tweak ?
Improve freq. stability ? - It won't do that.Improve rpm stability ? - Same as above.
Improve mains THD ? - Same as above.
Lower motor vibration ? - same as above (and be careful about the actual voltage you get without the resistor, or you'll likely add more vibration).
Filter the mains ? - depending on trafo BW, it will probably filter a bit of HF noise. But that is totally irrelevant in this application.
So what exactly are the benefits ?
PS: I bet you're really set on doing this, regardless of what I say. So, may I give you a suggestion that will make your tweak actually change something for the better: Get a trafo with split secondaries and connect CT to ground. That way you get a "balanced" supply that will be less likely to couple hum noise to the rest of the equipment (namely the cartridge).
