I second that. I used silclear on my powercords, interconnects, and speaker cables. It sounded better, but I did end up having shorts which destroyed my tweeters and their caps. One thing to watch out is that these substances are sticky and they attract dust. So if you change your leads often, you are likely to pick up some dust.
