Help with a phono section.

Hi, I have a nice vintage Precision Fidelity C7A with 4 12AX7s and 2 6DJ8s in cascode. The original phono section was loaded at 47k ohms. I am using an Ortofon X3-MC cartridge, and I have seen 100 ohms as the proper phono loading of this cartridge.
So tonight, I removed the 47k ohm resistors and replaced them with 100 ohm resistors. Now the sound is louder at the same volume setting however the sound balance seems all wrong.

Before the highs were a bit laid back. Now the midrange, upper midrange, and highs seem very exagerated so it sounds like a toy phonograph.

I have the schematics for you to review if you would like them. Just email me and I will forward them to your email address.

Any help is appreciated.

I thought I might try replacing the 100 ohm resistors with 3k-5k resistors tomorrow and see what happens with the sound balance. Right now it is way tilted to the mids and highs.

Please let me know your thoughts on this.
