They are easily removed from speaker cones. While I think they are beneficial in all the places Marigo notes, my favorites locations have been using the bands on the basket arms of dynamic drivers and the white (4mm?) dots at the corners of my cross-over boards. I don't have the answers to your other questions, but Ron at Marigo will surely know the answers and be of help to you.
