Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

I posted awhile back about possibly adding a toroidal transformer to one of my old (newly restored) NAD 3020's. I have since given up on that idea (mostly due to expense), but still have not been able to totally eliminate the very soft hum coming through the speakers. I have, however, managed to sort other things out well enough that I think I'm just going to leave it alone at this point, it sounds great! In fact, my wife and I both agree that now it sounds a little bit better than the brand-new NAD C320BEE that we borrowed. The C320BEE is a great amp, and was the impetus behind my looking into a possible toroidal transformer for the 3020, because the C320BEE is DEAD silent in my system. Same sources, cables, speakers, outlet, and position in the cabinet even. Perhaps if I can find a schematic of the C320BEE's power supply, I can figure out if there is some sort of filtering in the newer amp's power supply that isn't present in the old one. Does anyone know if NAD makes service manuals available to the general public for their products that are current production? If anyone is curious about details on the other work I did on the 3020, I may be posting details on what I did soon in another post
