Line level attenuation??

I'm Interested in buying some Autoformers to give my tube amp the guts to drive my magnepans.
I do have a question though.
I don't have a left right balance on my amplifier and because of the set up in my room the soundstage is left of center.
I'm thinking of putting potentiometers between the autoformers and the speakers.
I am somewhat dyslexic when it comes to electronics, assuming this would work, what would be a nice high quality pot to here?
