Return the *otherwise perfect* original tweets. The spider dominates a cone driver's compliance, not the surround. If there is any change in the Vas parameter due to a new surround, it will be offset by a corresponding change in Fs so that there will be no change in performance. Small domes cannot play as low as larger cones, so when you swapped tweets you left a depression in the midrange where the woofer leaves off.
