POCO Graphite makes specialty products for semiconductor and other industries, and sells samples 2 inches square by 0.25 inches thick for $5.Another idea would be to get some Jet coal from the border area of England and Scotland. In Victorian times women in mourning wore jewelry made from this coal. It would have to be dense and close to pure graphite to permit jewelry to be cut from it.
Note that this is where the term, 'jet black,' came from.
