Re: New Mundorf silver/gold caps!

65.110.173.32

In my crossover for Magnepan 3.6, I use North Creek & Sonicap for bass, Sonicap & Mundorf Supreme for mid, and Supreme silver/oil caps for tweeter. I bypass these caps with various caps in different location and find that the best location for the silver/gold 0.01 uf cap is in my midrange caps along with my Sonicap. I find that I like the Ero KP1832 bypass caps better along with my Mundorf caps. I try to bypass my Mundorf caps with silver/gold and silver/oil (0.01uf) caps and didn’t find it as smooth and detail as Ero. I ended up using silver/oil bypass cap in my bass portion of my crossover and the bass is tighter than comparing to the silver/gold bypass cap. Therefore, I would recommend the silver/gold cap if you are using it in the midrange caps but silver/oil is definitely better as bypass cap in the bass portion of my crossover. The silver/gold cap has a very open, detail, musical and transparent midrange but not as smooth and dark background as silver/oil. Silver/oil caps are very smooth but not as transparent and musical as the silver/gold. Depending on where and what cap you are using, the silver/gold cap would work wonder with your system. If you are wondering about replacing your silver/oil to silver/gold, the improvement is so small that I wouldn’t recommend the expense. I hope this help. I do apologize for my grammar and spelling mistake, as English is my third language.
