I opted to try this after reading a post in which Ken Lyon advised a DIY'r that he could do this in response to finding out that the current Lack shelves omit the foam core that was used in the original design circa 2000. The foam would seem to be integral to the constrained layer damping effect, if I understand it correctly. Aside from the mess, have I actually compromised the design intention?
