2 Ch system - Need advice

Building a two channel audio system and need some advice.
My system:
Krell KAV-300i Integrated Amplifier
Polk LSi9 Bookshelf Speakers
Kenwood Sovereign DV-5700 Universal Player
AudioQuest Diamondback Interconnects
AudioQuest Slate Speakers Cable
I realize most would probably say to replace my DVD player and Speakers; consequently my wife purchased both for me on my birthday. I will stay with those for now.
I would like to know Which would make a significant sonic improvement:
1-Changing my Cables
2-Modifying / Tweaking my DVD Player (2 channel analog audio)
I concentrate on listening to 2 channel CDâ€™s, my listening preference is smooth jazz and acoustics guitar.
I would really appreciate some feedback 
