Some have built the Octal version of it and say it is a big step up. You can do a "hybrid" Octal by changing just the 12au7 to a 6sn7 and changing a few resistors.
I had the Bugle at my house for a while and it's good, but the Cornet totally kills it. Try lots of tubes. The Sovtek 12ax7LPS's sound really good in this unit.
Take a lot of time reading through the posts at Audio Circle for idea's before you start your kit.
Wish I did.
Never being satisfied, I'm getting ready to change mine to a hybrid.
