Advice on how to add "auto turn on/off" to my amplifiers

Hello,

I have a pair of Antique Sound Lab Hurricane 200DT monoblock tube amps and would like to learn how to add an 'auto turn on/off' switch or relay (whichever is correct) so that I can have a 12v trigger on my remote-controlled preamp turn on the amps remotely. I have a schematic for the amp that I can email if anyone would be so kind to offer assistance. I don't know much of electronic design but can read schematics reasonably well and know how to solder.

My preamp and many others on the market these days have such trigger outputs through a 1/8" 'headphone-type' jack. My preamp outputs a 12VDC 100ma trigger. A picture of the guts of my amp can be seen at http://www.responseaudio.com/EXtreme Hurricane Pictures.htm

My Parasound A21 amplifier (http://www.parasound.com/pdfs/A21Manual.pdf) has such an auto-on feature with a toggle switch on the back that gives you the option of using the auto-on or use the normal power on-off button. I don't have a schematic for this amp.

Does such feature give any compromise to the sound quality at all?

Thanks,

Josh
