I have an entire rack built with individual sandboxes. I would not use the foam under the sand. What I would do is to make the box with a depth of at least 3 inches. I would brace the bottom and sides with 3/4" X 1 1/4" plywood braces into several unequal sections. Use the braces to tie front to back and side to side. This greatly stiffens the sandbox, raises and varies its vibration frequency and lowers the vibration amplitude. Then fill it with sand.Larry
