Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ.

I'm trying my level best.

I have a 30 y/o condo with concrete slab floor on grade. Atop this, I have two stable component racks that do not contact one another.

My problem is that the floor slants downward ever-so-slightly toward the wall behind the system - possibly a result of settling over time. In any event, I find that I need to lift the rear of the components or the rack by about one-quarter of an inch, the thickness of the floortile used in the room, in order to bring the back level with the front. I use or intend to use DIYumas, butcher blocks, and other devices under a number of the components.

Is there a preferred way to do this? Is there a better material? I have copious amounts of this tile. Should I cut strips for the purpose of placing it under the rear of each component (as I currently have under my TT)? Instead, should I simply put it (or something else) beneath the rear of the racks, so as to counteract resonances introduced by the choice of leveling materials?

I'd appreciate your input and mebbe a little supporting mumbo-jumbo to explain your choice. TIA.
