Re: More info

I think you could get by with a single run. Which I know is contrary to popular opinion concerning gauge and amps, etc.

But, here is why I say this:

1. I did what you are talking about (crossover re-wire) on my MMGs and used 28g wire to wire the crossovers. I used the stock parts but arranged it for bi-amping/wiring.I liked the bass response much better than the same parts with the (14g?) Maggie wire. Later, I did a mod with all new and better parts, and used copper foils (very thin(much much thiner than the Alphacore inductors I chose) and 1/2 inch wide)). These foils were definately thinner than the 14g inductors and probably were in the 24g range. People who have heard the modded MMGs thought that they sounded better than the 1.6s.

2. The bass panels on the MMGs were wired internally with about 60+ ft of what looks like 24g wire, and the stock inductor leads appeared to be the same size. So why worry about 12" of 18g or 12g or 8g for that matter?? The tweeter is also a very small guage, but the signal seems to do fine travelling through its 6ft or so length (actually, on the MMG, it is about 20ft or so--I was referring to the 3.6s).

Anyhow, the 3.6s are different, and maybe the MMG experiences don't apply, but I think there are more similiarities than differences, and that is why I think one strand will do.
