Lifting speaker wire

129.71.148.94

I am not a big believer in most tweaks, thinking that you are prone to hear what you want to hear, but I have just been amazed. In a recent high end catalog I noticed ceramic insulators to be used for raising your speaker wire up and off the carpet which reputedly is a crappy dielectric that can blur the electron flow, yadda, yadda. Pierre Sprey at Mapleshade also sells a wooden device for the same purpose. Well, the catalog spurred me to remember a box of old ceramic insulators I had intended to use for a novel coatrack. Coatrack no more! These old chunks of ceramic are going to be in service for a while. My homebrewed braided Cat 5 with teflon is now up off the floor and, by god, my system sounds better. The high frequencies are more detailed and there seems to be much more "blackness" around the music. You can hear a pick against a wound string before the note. No blur. Whoda thunk it! This is worth trying and if you can't find the insulators, you might prop up your wires on cheap glassware.
