Re: Is your answer just for crossovers? ...

In speaker crossovers, it is best to use a few caps as possible, IMHO. It sounds like you are working with the low pass section of the unit due to the larger values. If so, an affordable option on large value caps is to use a decent quality non-polar of at least 75% of the desired value and then parallel with it a good quality film cap such as a Solen or similar to make up the difference. High value top quality caps will be expensive so just how far you go deepends on your budget for the project.
For the high pass (tweeter) section, your values should be much lower and the use of high quality capacitors should not set you back to much. You can use bypass caps here also and you will get numerous opinion on this subject so I will not go there. I will say good results can be achived either way.

Power supplies are a different animal all together with many different variables to consider.
