I am familiar with the old Sony product. They were very heavy and cost a fortune. I believe they may have served as a crude prototype for the Magix. The Magix are fully shielded, allow for component leveling and use some type of funky air diaphram system to "decouple" (all of you physicists out there please note the quote marks) the opposing magnets from the piston shell. The end result is a vastly superior product, imo.
