I used xxxx birdshot and after several shakedowns and refills, the stand still felt like there was some movement. After the addition of sand(shot removed and mixed) I could feel no movement. As to the sonic benifits, I can't say. I didn't use the stands untill the sand was added. I have read that one of the properties if sand allows it to convert vibrational energy to heat. I imagine, this could only help. Just a thought.
