I've built a sandwich that cuts about 30% of mid freq and 70% of high freqs...this is subjective as I used a stethescope and a small ball bearing droped on to the surface that the platform rested on.The sandwich was made of 6mm mdf 12mm butyl foamed rubber sheet and 6mm mdf. Currently this is not glued together.... but I might have a go when I've got time.
