Do it by ear - your ear will tell you best. Use slap echo - good tool also.If you want to get more technical, you would need to buy one of those analyzers - either stand alone units or PC cards - some are not too expensive.
I would recommend though not just the one that uses noise, but impulse - those are more complex but give you better result.
