you've answered your own question : "....25 A. diode bridge in the Hafler 500...". You would be best advised to also use 25A diodes to replace the Hafler's diode bridge. Your Hafler doesn't draw 25A while running. However, it obviously has a large filter bank that probably draws 10-15A @ power-up, the rest is safety factor. An uncharged capacitor acts as a dead short until it has achieved 66.6% of its' total charge. If you use anything less than 25A diodes as replacements you'll probably let the smoke out them and they won't work no more.Happy Listening !
