In Reply to: Newbie Q: How to wire output transformer as filter choke posted by Jabberwock on November 22, 2004 at 17:55:07:
Most power transformer's are not as concerned with ultra low DCR on either the primary or the secondary. When used as a transformer, the DCR is not very much of a factor as it is with a filter inductor. If you want to try it anyway, connect to the primary leads and use them as the two leads for the choke. Shorting the secondary wires will maximize the inductance of the assembly, BUT could cause excessive heating of the transformer, depending ion the curent through the transformer primary.
Not recommended at all for use as an AC choke power line voltage level choke!
