Hi!Can anyone help?
I have a servicing issue with an RCD-855 Rotel CD-Player (similar to the Philips/Magnavox 582).
No commands on the unit work (play etc.) and the displays ikons are all lid up. All functions work, if remote control is used!
I had to replace the controller IC, which processes the function commands on the unit. This IC is the driver for the display as well. The IC was internally shorted out (+27V supply pin to ground pin), which shut down the regulator in the power supply (regulator very hot to the touch). I replaced the controller in question, which is located underneath the display, as well as the regulator. All voltages around the controller IC are now as stated in the service manual and the regulator stays cool. But the display, as I stated, has ALL ikons lid up. And no commands (play etc.) on the unit are processed bei this controller chip.
Do I overlook something?
It seems to me, as if that controller IC is internally 'locked up'. But I can nowhere find any info, regarding the possibility of un-locking (resetting) the controller IC.
Does anyone here have an idea? Thanks!
Regards,
Karl
