that's the #1, section A step before anything else...a fuse can look clean and be absolutely filthy... you need a hardcore oxide stripper... go with Flitz, designed for marine use, use a soft clean cloth.. old t-shirt rules for this application, and repeatedly polich the ends until there is no more black oxide coming off...
If your fuseholder permits, place a green marigo dot on either end of the fuse (which is nothing more than an little humming wire suspended in a tube that all your expensively filtered power must route through)
