Pinging Tonemaniac and others. RE: Marigo VTS dots on electrolytics.

I tried posting this a while ago, but it didn't show up, so I'm trying again. Sorry if it ends up as a re-post.

I recently put some of the green Marigo VTS tuning bands on the basket supports of my monitors and have two of the tuning bands left over (due to the design on the driver baskets). I'm thinking of chopping these remaining two bands into 3mm pieces (a la the tuning 'dots') for further use, and have a coupla questions in this regard.

1) Are the greend 'bands' and the green 'dots' composed of the same material (e.g. will the minced tuning bands give me an approximation of the green tuning dots if I get the size and shape right)?

2) One of the suggested uses of the 3mm green dots is for the top of electrolytic caps. Can anyone who's tried this comment on the sonic benefits/losses produced by using the dots in this manner? Which component did you try it on?

3) Should these 'dots' NOT be used on film caps?

Thanks in advance.
