I have a tube amp and started into Symposium products with an Ultra platform for the amp, hoping for better sound in addition to getting the amp off the floor. The improvement was immediate and obvious, using just the platform and "couplers" that came with it. I'm not the best at describing the change but there were improvements from bottom to top. Bass became firmer, everything became more palpable, and the presentation was more open and transparent. I agree with Jack G's comments below, cleaner, clearer, smoother and yet more dynamic. I wouldn't have believed a "platform" could make such a difference . . .Recently I replaced the couplers with a double stack of Rollerblocks and the improvement was again obvious and pretty remarkable. For a tube amp, on an Ultra platform, Peter Bizlewicz of Symposium recommended either a set of Rollerblock, Jr.'s or a double stack of Rollerblocks. Apparently the "top and bottom" is beneficial. I went for the double stack of Rollerblocks and don't regret it. The amp is quite stable with a double stack. 3 balls work with my amp, but as tube amps go mine isn't big or super heavy (under 45 lbs).
As I understand it, the way these products work is "subtractive" -- they don't add anything, but by draining vibration, a layer of sonic grunge is removed and the equipment performs noticeably better. In my experience, very noticeably.
I have always bought direct from Symposium. Peter Bizlewicz is friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He doesn't puff product benefits -- he lets the products speak for themselves, which I like.
