Re: JR a/c filter for digital and analogue the same??

My knowledge is limited too, so if you're asking about balanced mode, see
http://www.geocities.com/jonrisch/catch2.htm
http://www.soundstage.com/articles/pete03.htm
and http://www.equitech.com/index.html
though remember Equitech is giving you a sales pitch.

If you're asking about voltage rise, with a light load on the 2ndary side of the transformer, voltage may be as much as 10% higher than what's fed to the primary (opposite with a heavy load). If the voltage out of your wall is already high, and the gear plugged in on the far side doesn't draw a lot of current, it might get excessive voltages. In standard isolation mode, you can move down one tap on the secondary to counteract this. But given the way the taps are set up you don't have that option in balanced mode. These questions only arise, though, if you want to spend $100 or so for an isolation transformer (I think I used a Signal Transformer DU 1/2), plus whatever it takes to buy or scrounge a big enough case. The Radio Shack solution will be cheaper and smaller.

If you search this forum a lot of this stuff will come up, with better explanations than I can manage. If you have a multimeter (you'll need one for this project) you can check out your local voltages.
