Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |
|
I have a moded Toshiba 3950 and am really amazed that simple isolation changes can make such a profound change in the sound. During my experiment, this is what I've found:
1. Using a DIY roller ball isolator with metal ball bearings, the bass is emphasized while the mids and highs are dramatically rolled off.2. Adding a ziploc bag of sand to the top of the Tosh. also results in emphasized bass and rolled off mids and highs.
3. Using the DIY roller ball isolator with glass marbles and without the sand bags results in sweet mids and highs with just about the right amount of bass.
I may experiment by dumping some sand from the sand bag and place it back on the Tosh. to increase the bass a little. Like I said, I was really surprised that these changes could affect the sound to this extent. Anyone else with similar observations?
