my last version uses 2SA872A/2SC1775A and 2SA1210/2CS2912.
sounds great - i am not a reviewer with lots of adjectives to throw around, sorry.
"best" transistors to use is a wde open question. i used what i had lots of; no special efforts made to choose optimum device! 2SA872A/2SC1775A is low noise, high beta, small signal type devices; 2sA1210/2SC2912 is low capacitance, higher power than small signal devices - strong enough for driving outputs i needed. worked great for me - your mileage may vary. go on over to diyaudio and search in archives for some good (beleive it or not) discussions/recommendations on semiconductorsgood luck!
