Replacing Power Cords in ARC Equipment

I have an Audio Research Ref 1 Preamp and an Audio Research D400 Mk II Amp that both have the stock, fixed power cords. Has anyone experimented with similar replacement of fixed power cords on ARC equipment? What did you use and what were the results?
