Paint With Glass Microspheres For Acoustic Damping and Thermal Insulation ?

Does this product work as advertised ? Has anyone here done an interior paint job with it ? How good or bad was the result ?

There are several companies that make paints, sealers, roofing material, etc. with an additive that is supposed to be microscopic glass spehres with a vacuum center, like tiny thermos balls I guess.

They say that thir paints will reduce noise, add some extra R-value keeping rooms cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, and it will look like premium quality paint too. Priced at between $25-35 per gallon, but the coverage varies dramatically between their thin products (maybe about 325 sq. feet /gallon) and their thick noise control paints (100 sq. feet per gallon)...

They say "The combination of a high loading of the Ceramic Microspheres with their vacuum centers and the absorbent pigment fillers reduces sound transmission and reflection by 30%. Echo within the room is reduced dramatically."

Hypothetically sounds great to me, three functionalities rolled into one product. They've been making these clains for about 10 years and I haven't seen them accused of false or misleadng advertising, so I figure they have to be legit enough to stay out of FTC enforcement. So if this paint can do all of these things, why isn't everybody using it then ? Ignorance ? Indifference ? Lack of proof ? Product doesn't work ?

I'm getting mentally prepared to paint my place, Lord knows it needs a good paint job, looks terrible now but the hassle was too much. Any opinions, should I go for it ?
