On the assumption that your deck is about 20 years old or so, here's what I think *may* be happening:* Your regulators are getting extra warm due to extra current being drawn through them, creating extra heat. Where's the extra current going?
* Your filter caps have, indeed, dried up and are becoming more like resistors than filtering capacitors. They are getting warm from all that extra current being drawn through the voltage regulators.
Assuming this is the condition: ***This is dangerous***
Worse-case scenario: One or more of the caps will overheat, boiling what's left of the electrolyte and explode from the pressure. This could cause arcing and fire, not to mention some nasty voltages on the feeds throughout the rest of the deck.
Recommendations: Get it looked at immediately. If you're hand enough and can find replacement caps, swap them out ASAP - and don't operate the deck until this is dealt with.
Consider this a safety issue.
