I'm been doing this for quite a while and also change power rail caps and adding power bypasses in every stage of the amplification chain. It is sometimes not just the speaker cross over caps that we need to fix.
Say you've got the best best cap for the speaker and then you may notice something in the highs you don't like that actually may come from the power rail of one of the many stages of amplifications (anywhere from sound source, it's output analogue space, to any pre-amps or pre-amp stage of an integration, to the driving stage and to the actual power stage. This is still possible.
What I'm trying to say is that after the change, your speakers may be good enough to reveal other problems that didn't bother you. Ears gets very adaptive to improvements and step up the expectations very rapidly. To me that's a problem (or perhaps I have much more problems than others !)
Good luck and enjoy!
