The 6.144 MHz oscillator used in DACs is only there to allow the DAC to determine what the incoming data rate is based on a known reference. It should have no effect on sound quality and in fact can (and should) be disabled after frequency selection is made. Check the data sheet for the Crystal (Cirrus) CS8414 receiver IC. The accuracy for this use in unimportant.The DAC locks on to the incoming data which has a frequency determined by the oscillator in the CD player or transport. Exceptions are when the DAC emplys a sample rate convertor (SRC) for 'upsampling' in which case a precision oscillator is used in the DAC to control the data rate on the output of the SRC.
A 'normal' CD crystal oscillator would be at the 256x frequency of 44.1K * 256 = 11.2896 MHz.
